The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleges that Ezekiel misappropriated funds by failing to remit the singer’s rightful share of the proceeds.
EFCC counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, told the court that Ezekiel diverted the funds, prompting the agency to issue an arrest warrant.
During the court session on Friday, Ezekiel’s lawyer, Monday Ubani (SAN), argued that the case was contractual and not criminal in nature.

He also informed the court that Ezekiel had filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against the EFCC to prevent his arrest and raised a preliminary objection to the charges.
Ubani further requested the court to vacate the arrest warrant, stating that Ezekiel had not been formally served with the charges.
In response, the EFCC counsel requested permission to serve the charges in open court, which Ubani accepted on behalf of his client.
Justice Alexander Owoeye, presiding over the case, adjourned the matter to February 14, 2025, for Ezekiel’s arraignment and the hearing of pending applications, including the preliminary objection raised by his defense.
