A Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has affirmed the suspension of Ali Odefa as the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Odefa’s suspension was announced on October 4, 2024, by the executive committee of his Oguduokwor Ward in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, citing allegations of anti-party activities.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that however, Odefa dismissed the suspension as baseless, claiming that those who carried it out were not legitimate ward executives of the party and lacked the authority to take such action.
The case, marked FHC/AI/CS/182/2024, was filed by Herbert Ovuta against Odefa. Presiding over the matter, Justice Hilary Oshomah ruled that the suspension was valid and binding. The court ordered Odefa to immediately cease presenting himself as the National Vice Chairman of the PDP.
Justice Oshomah upheld the disciplinary measures taken by the Oguduokwor Ward executives, noting that the suspension adhered to the party’s internal processes and rules.
The judgment reinforces the authority of local party structures in addressing alleged misconduct among members, even those holding high-ranking positions.
