- Nigeria has received approximately 4.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines since the first tranche arrived in March 2021
The federal government, on Monday, declared that it will reject vaccines from private and unverified sources.
Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, while speaking during a briefing of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 said this is as a result of the high rate of fake COVID-19 vaccines in circulation.

“Due to warnings by international police organizations of the high rate of fake covid19 vaccines said to be in circulation, and reports of risks of adverse events reported after vaccination, Nigeria will not accept vaccines from private and unverified sources,” Ehanire said.
He, however, said the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is pursuing initiatives to test and authorise more vaccines for use in Nigeria.
