Customs Intercepts ₦72.6m Worth of Smuggled Petrol Bound for Cameroon

The Adamawa and Taraba Customs Command has intercepted Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) worth over ₦72.6 million, preventing its illegal export to Cameroon.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking at the command headquarters in Yola on Wednesday, Comptroller Garba Bashir revealed that the seized fuel was being smuggled through the River Benue waterways.

According to him, operatives of the command launched the successful operation using intelligence sharing, technology, and coordinated border management.

He emphasized that the fuel, stored in 240 drums of 220 litres each, was discovered at Jimeta waterside (Bakin Kogi) at about 3:30 AM, ready to be transported across the border.

Bashir reiterated the command’s commitment to eradicating smuggling activities in the region, stating that under his watch, Adamawa and Taraba would remain a dead zone for smugglers.
