The rains are expected to extend into the afternoon in Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba.
NiMet cautioned that flash floods are likely in Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna, and Kano during this period. It added that central states including Niger, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Plateau, and Nasarawa will experience cloudy skies in the morning followed by light to moderate rainfall.
Plateau State, in particular, faces a high risk of flooding. In the south, moderate rainfall is expected in Ondo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

For Tuesday, the agency projected sunny intervals with patches of cloud in the north, although thunderstorms and rains will continue in Adamawa, Taraba, and nearby states.
It noted that both central and southern regions would sustain moderate rainfall.
By Wednesday, northern states are expected to record sunny mornings, followed by thunderstorms later in the day.
The central region will see cloudy skies with moderate rainfall, while southern states such as Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Cross River are likely to witness morning showers and moderate to heavy afternoon rains.
NiMet advised residents to prepare for potential flooding, avoid driving during heavy downpours, and secure loose objects that may be displaced by strong winds.
It further urged people to disconnect electrical appliances during storms, stay away from tall trees, and brace for cooler night temperatures.
The agency also appealed to airline operators to obtain updated, airport-specific weather information to ensure safe operations. More details are available on its official website, www.nimet.gov.ng.
