Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund by the state government.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the appointment, announced on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, is part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s broader initiative to rejuvenate and modernise the sports sector in Osun State.

According to an official statement, Davido’s new role involves mobilising financial and material support for the development and upgrade of sports infrastructure across the state.
The government described the appointment as a strategic step toward encouraging youth participation and creating sustainable opportunities through sports.

Confirming the development, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Sports, revealed that the multi-award-winning artist gladly accepted the position.
He also assured that the ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, designed to meet Olympic standards, would be completed soon.

Adewole further disclosed plans to set up the Osun State Sports Commission, which will oversee sports policies and programs.
He added that the newly established Sports Trust Fund, headed by Davido, will attract investors, sports lovers, and philanthropists to support long-term sports development in the state.
The Adeleke administration reaffirmed its commitment to making sports a vital tool for youth empowerment, community growth, and economic development in Osun State.
