EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking in Kaduna on Saturday, Usman insisted that the Labour Party remains focused and united in offering Nigerians a credible alternative to what she called the “rudderless and visionless” leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
She assured Nigerians that the LP is committed to restoring national dignity and delivering people-centred governance. According to her, the economic hardship and insecurity experienced across the country have reached unbearable levels under the APC-led government.
“The APC has failed Nigerians. The suffering of our people has never been this widespread or this severe,” she stated.
Reacting to the wave of defections, including members leaving the Labour Party for the ruling APC, Usman described the move as both “morally indefensible” and “legally questionable.”
She said it was disappointing to see politicians abandon the party that gave them a platform to win elections, only to cross over in pursuit of personal interests.
“It is disheartening to see people jump ship after securing victory on one party’s platform, only to defect for selfish gain,” she said.
Despite the defections, Usman said the party remains firm and continues to enjoy mass support. She noted that some of the individuals who left the party never truly believed in its ideology and that their departure has created space for a stronger, more united LP.

“We made some mistakes in candidate selection, but those lessons have been learned. Going forward, we will be more deliberate in choosing those who genuinely align with our mission of building a new Nigeria,” she added.
