EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during a rally on Saturday in Igueben Local Government Area, part of Edo Central, the governor said his government remains focused on fulfilling campaign promises. He stated that a statewide project commissioning exercise would commence shortly and span all three senatorial districts.
The event was marked by a significant wave of political defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Among the notable defectors were Hon. Eugene Inegbobho, representing Igueben in the State House of Assembly; Hon. Felix Omi Imiesili, a former PDP secretary and two-time council chairman; and Hon. Sylvanus Igbogbo, who led others in switching allegiance.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo highlighted ongoing construction projects, including roads and the long-awaited seaport. He said these efforts would set his administration apart from past governments.
“The last administration made promises for eight years. In one year, we will surpass what they couldn’t achieve,” he said.
The rally attracted key APC figures such as retired General Cecil Isekhaigbe and the party’s state chairman, Jarret Tenebe.
Okpebholo described the defections as a positive sign of the APC’s growing influence and affirmed his administration’s goal to mobilise over two million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

He commended Igueben residents and party supporters for their faith in his leadership, vowing not to disappoint them.
