EKO HOT BLOG reports that officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, or LASBCA, have begun the dismantling of five substandard buildings in Ikoyi in order to prevent any potential accidental collapse and to save lives.
It was necessary to halt further building at the site because structures with four floors, each still under construction, were discovered to be tilting and sinking towards the end of Patrick Harbour Estate in Ikoyi.
According to LASBCA General Manager Arc. Gbolahan Oki, the agency’s officials adopted a proactive stance to avert the structures’ impending collapse and save lives.
He declared that the agency’s determination to ensure the demolition of troubled buildings in any area of the State was further strengthened by the elimination of defective constructions.
