APC members turn out massively during Lagos Assembly primaries
Lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has lost his bid to secure another term in office after suffering defeat in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Elliot was defeated by former Lagos State Special Adviser on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, during the primary election held on Wednesday.
Odunuga-Bakare, who reportedly enjoyed the backing of Femi Gbajabiamila, secured a landslide victory across the constituency.
The APC aspirant polled a total of 11,385 votes, while Elliot managed 270 votes across the various wards in Surulere Constituency I.
The exercise attracted a large turnout of party members, with ward-by-ward results showing overwhelming support for Odunuga-Bakare.
At Akinhanmi/Cole Ward, she recorded 2,191 votes, while Elliot secured 82 votes.
In Yaba/Ojuelegba Ward, Odunuga-Bakare polled 980 votes against Elliot’s three votes.
She also dominated the Gbaja Stadium Ward with 523 votes, while Elliot failed to record any vote in the area.
Elliot’s best performance came at Shitta/Ogunlana Ward, where he secured 270 votes, ahead of Odunuga-Bakare’s 169 votes.
At Owolewa Open Field, Off Randle Avenue, Odunuga-Bakare garnered 1,956 votes, while Elliot polled 10 votes.
In Iponri/Eric Moore Ward, she secured 1,805 votes, with Elliot managing six votes.

Desmond Elliot was first elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2015 and has represented Surulere Constituency I for multiple terms.
