President Donald Trump on Wednesday, lashed out at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling him a “dictator without elections” after Zelenskyy accused Trump of being swayed by Russian disinformation while attempting to end the war with terms that Ukraine views as too favourable to Moscow.
Trump criticised Zelenskyy, a former comedian turned politician, for persuading the U.S. to spend $350 billion on a war that Trump claims was unnecessary and unwinnable, emphasising that without the U.S. and himself, Zelenskyy would be unable to resolve the conflict.

Trump referred to Zelenskyy as “A Dictator without Elections!” as Ukraine delays its planned elections, initially set for April 2024, due to Russia’s invasion in February 2022.
Earlier on Wednesday, Zelenskyy accused Trump of being part of a Russian-backed “disinformation space.” In response, Trump took to social media, accusing Zelenskyy of misusing American aid and exploiting the Biden administration’s support.
The exchange followed high-level talks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where senior U.S. and Russian officials agreed to negotiate an end to the war, excluding Ukrainian and European officials despite Zelenskyy’s insistence that they be involved in the discussions.
Trump, who has promised to end the war quickly if re-elected, reiterated his belief that Zelenskyy should have negotiated a peace deal earlier.

“Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left,” Trump said.

He implied that Zelenskyy is eager to keep the flow of U.S. aid going.
