IGP Asks Court To Revoke Bail Of Pastor Enenche’s Relative Over Defamation Case
Police allege he continued defamatory posts despite bail conditions.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has petitioned the Magistrate’s Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, to revoke the bail granted to Oboyinlo Enenche Peter, a relative of Pastor Paul Enenche, over alleged violations of his bail conditions in an ongoing criminal defamation case.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Peter, alongside Abraham Daniel and other unnamed defendants, is facing trial at the Wuse Zone 6 Magistrate Court for allegedly defaming Pastor Paul Enenche, the General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, and Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

In a motion filed on March 17, through legal counsel Francis Gabriel Esq. of the Nigeria Police Force’s Legal Prosecution Section, the IGP accused Peter of breaching his bail terms. The police chief is now seeking a court order to remand Peter in Nigeria Correctional Service custody until the trial is concluded.

The application, which cites provisions from the Nigerian Constitution (1999, as amended), the Police Act, and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (2015), alleges that Peter continued to make defamatory publications against Pastor Enenche on social media, despite being granted bail.

According to the motion, Peter’s social media posts on Facebook, WhatsApp, and other platforms not only defamed Pastor Enenche but also touched on the substance of the ongoing trial without the court’s consent, allegedly bringing the judiciary into disrepute. The police argue that this constitutes a fresh offence and violates bail conditions, warranting his remand.

This legal move follows a separate petition by Peter and his co-defendant, former Dunamis pastor Abraham Daniel, against Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Iyanna, accusing him of misconduct and disregarding legal procedures in the case.

The prosecution is requesting three key reliefs:

Revocation of Peter’s bail for violating its conditions.
Remanding Peter in custody until the trial concludes.
Any other orders the court deems necessary in the circumstances.
