President Donald Trump has announced that the United States carried out what he described as “powerful and deadly” airstrikes against ISIS militants operating in Nigeria’s North West.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Trump, the 47th President of the United States, made the disclosure on Thursday via his social media platform, Truth Social, saying the operation was executed on his direct orders as Commander in Chief.

According to him, the strikes targeted ISIS elements accused of attacking and killing innocent civilians, particularly Christians, in the region.
“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS terrorist scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians,” Trump wrote.
He added that he had previously warned the militants to halt the killings, stressing that the latest action was a response to their continued violence.
However, Trump did not provide specific details on the operation, including casualty figures, precise targets, or the number of strikes carried out, noting only that they involved “numerous perfect strikes.”

Following the announcement, the US Department of Defense shared a brief, unclassified nine-second video on its verified X account, showing what appeared to be a missile launch from a military vessel.
Confirming the development, the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) said the strike was conducted at the request of Nigerian authorities and resulted in the killing of multiple militants.
US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, also acknowledged the operation, expressing appreciation for Nigeria’s cooperation and support.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the strikes were part of ongoing security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States, involving intelligence sharing and strategic coordination.
According to the ministry, the cooperation has enabled precision airstrikes against terrorist targets in parts of North West Nigeria as efforts continue to degrade militant networks and improve security.
