The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has strongly denied claims, which first appeared in an online publication, that he forced the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, to resign, labeling the allegations as defamatory.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the online story, published on August 2, 2025, claimed that Olukoyede and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi, pressured Ojulari into signing a resignation letter during a private meeting in Abuja.

According to the publication, Ojulari was questioned about his connections to an oil mogul, Olatimbo Ayinde, who is reportedly close to the current government.
In a formal response, Olukoyede’s legal counsel stated that the allegations were damaging to his reputation, while the EFCC chairman, quoted by a spokesman as calling the publications “damning,” also denied being influenced by any political figures or acting on behalf of the oil mogul.
The EFCC chairman has demanded that the online publication apologize, remove the stories from its website and social media, and admit its wrongdoing within 48 hours.
Olukoyede has threatened to take legal action if the publication fails to comply. The original report also included a claim that First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu was against Ojulari’s resignation.
