EKO HOT BLOG reports that Pep Guardiola’s side, looking to reaffirm their global stature after a third-place Premier League finish, struck early through Phil Foden, who opened the scoring in the 2nd minute with a precise finish following a slick passing move that carved open the Moroccan defence.
City maintained control throughout the first half, dictating the tempo and probing for openings. Their pressure paid off again in the 42nd minute when Jérémy Doku, a constant menace on the flanks, made it 2-0 with a sharp strike after another well-constructed attacking build-up.
Though the second half brought fewer scoring chances, City remained in charge, restricting Wydad to long-range efforts and sporadic counterattacks. Rico Lewis came closest to adding a third late on, hitting the post in the 88th minute after a dazzling solo run through midfield.
With the win, Manchester City now top Group E, giving them a strong advantage heading into their next fixture. They need just a point from their upcoming match to secure a place in the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, in the other Group E encounter, Inter Milan and Monterrey played to a 1-1 draw in Pasadena. Sergio Ramos opened the scoring for the Mexicans before Lautaro Martinez equalised for the Italian side.
