Former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Monday visited the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged diversion of about ₦1.3 trillion.
Although the EFCC did not officially comment on the visit, a source within the commission disclosed that the former governor is being investigated over the alleged misappropriation of 13 per cent derivation funds allocated to Delta State from the Federation Account between 2015 and 2023, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

According to the soce, Okowa appeared at the anti-graft agency’s office on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, to seek the release of his international passport so he could travel abroad for medical treatment.
The former governor was previously arrested by EFCC operatives on November 4, 2024, and questioned at the commission’s Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate over the same allegations.
As of the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether the EFCC had approved his request for the release of his passport.
