The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed inviting Wahab and Raheem Okoya, sons of billionaire businessman Chief Razaq Okoya, for questioning regarding alleged naira abuse.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said that the two brothers are to appear at the EFCC Lagos office on Monday, January 15, 2025.

“Yes, they have been invited. Wahab and Raheem Okoya are expected to report to the Head, Special Operations Team, at the commission’s office on 15A Awolowo Road by 10 a.m. on Monday,” Oyewale said.

The summons follows a viral video showing the brothers dressed in white traditional attire, dancing and flaunting bundles of ₦1,000 notes.

In the video, they were seen spraying cash into the air while a mobile policeman held stacks of crisp naira notes.

The clip was reportedly a promotional video for Raheem Okoya’s new song, “Credit Alert.”

The display sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians criticizing the act as a blatant disregard for the law and the naira’s sanctity.

Concerns were also raised about whether justice would be served, given the influential status of their father.

Under Nigerian law, the abuse of the naira, including spraying or hawking it, is a punishable offense, as outlined by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
