The Media Office of Yahaya Bello, former Governor of Kogi State, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action in the ongoing conflict between Bello and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The office alleges that the EFCC is engaging in a politically motivated “hatchet job” against the ex-governor.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement signed by Ohiare Michael, the Media Office argues that the EFCC’s recent actions and press releases reflect a bias influenced by personal interests, rather than a genuine commitment to combating corruption. This comes on the heels of the EFCC declaring Bello wanted, generating significant media attention.

Reports reveal that Bello voluntarily appeared at the EFCC headquarters but was allowed to leave without any charges being filed against him. This situation has raised serious concerns about the integrity and motives behind the EFCC’s operations.

The statement pointedly questioned, “If the EFCC was truly interested in prosecution, would the agency not have taken him in on that day?” highlighting the perception of ulterior motives behind the agency’s actions.

In light of these developments, the Media Office underscored the need for President Tinubu to intervene to ensure fairness in the handling of the case. The statement emphasized that the fight against corruption should be equitable and inclusive, stating, “Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians.”

By urging presidential intervention, the Media Office hopes to ensure that accountability and governance in Nigeria remain fair, transparent, and free from political manipulation.
