Victim had been held captive for eight days

According to Police Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun, the victim had been held captive for eight days before managing to escape on February 13, 2025.

After trekking a long distance, he reached the Pogo-Paiko highway in Minna, where he was rescued by the police and taken to safety.

He was later admitted to a hospital for medical attention while authorities work to locate his family.

In another operation, police officers from the Maitumbi Division intercepted a vehicle carrying stolen livestock along the Gwada-Maitumbi Road. The suspects—Mohammed Ibrahim, Ibrahim Yakubu, and three others—were arrested and taken into custody.

Investigations revealed that the stolen animals, consisting of eleven cows and thirty-four sheep, were taken from a compound in Kuchi, Munya. During interrogation, Mohammed Ibrahim admitted to stealing the livestock from a man named Saleh and attempting to transport them to Minna for sale.

The recovered animals are being held as evidence, and efforts are underway to identify and return them to their rightful owner. Meanwhile, the suspects remain under investigation.
