Eight Killed, 17 Injured At College Stabbing Attack in Eastern China
Eight people were killed and 17 others injured in a stabbing attack on Saturday at a college campus in Yixing, a city in eastern China, according to police.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology. A police statement confirmed that the suspect, a recent graduate, was apprehended at the scene.

According to authorities, the attack was motivated by the suspect’s frustration over failing an exam, not receiving a graduation certificate, and dissatisfaction with internship compensation. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
This attack is the latest in a string of mass casualty events to hit China in recent months.
Last Monday, a car drove into a group of pedestrians exercising in the southern city of Zhuhai, leaving 35 people dead and over 40 injured. Authorities swiftly removed online footage and moderated social media discussions surrounding the incident.

In October, a 50-year-old man was arrested in Beijing following a stabbing attack near an elementary school that injured five people, including three children.
In September, a bus crashed into a crowd of students and parents outside a school in Tai’an, Shandong province, killing 11 and injuring 13. Authorities have not disclosed whether the crash was accidental or deliberate.
