EKO HOT BLOG reports that ahead the June 18 Ekiti governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged its personnel to uphold the commission’s Code of Conduct, show typical sense of responsibility and professionalism, and forcefully fight any unethical behavior.
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, made the call in a message to INEC officials in Abuja on the State’s election.
He instructed them to make certain that no political party or candidate received an unfair edge over the others.
INEC had jointly implemented many actions and taken every effort to ensure a free, fair, credible, and inclusive process since June 2021, when it announced the timeline and program of events for the poll, according to Yakubu.
This election will be historic since it will be the first governorship election to be held under the terms of the new Electoral Act 2022, seven months after the successful holding of the Anambra State Governorship Election in November 2021.
