Ajoro Ekiti, a socio-development pressure group, has asked the help of spiritual leaders to rid the state of bloodthirsty criminal elements.
In response to last Saturday’s killings in Omuo-Ekiti, the Convener, Ariyo-Dare Atoye, said it is high time the state nipped the spate of murders in the bud.
“This is a painful awakening for the people of Ekiti State that we also have an axis of evil within us that must be confronted and defeated, including working to rebuild a society that will make evil difficult to thrive,” he said.
“This tragic occurrence has cast our dear state in bad light, therefore, the time has come for religious and traditional leaders to prioritize the fight against evil and place a curse on all proponents of killings and merchants of evil.”

“The arraignment in court and remand of the three suspects involved in the killings of two persons during the bye-election into the Ekiti East State Constituency I, as well as the public condemnation of the heinous crime, is not enough if we must demonstrate deterrence against barbarism.
“Available public information indicates that the accused: Adenijo Olusola, 38 (popularly called Solar), Paul Folorunso, 45, and Adebayo Serifat, 40, are all members of a killer squad, and as such, the Police must act with courage and move swiftly to effect the arrest of other members of the gang and dismantle their network.
“As a result, we call on Ekiti State’s security agencies, particularly the Police and the DSS, to investigate how Adenjo Olusola, who had been on trial for a similar case since 2015, was released in 2018, as well as the squad’s sponsor and other accomplices.
“As a people, we must rise above politics; we must speak out against politicians who use our youths as political thugs; we must say no to those who endanger our state and undermine our reputations; and, as a commitment, we must act to build a consensus against evil,” according to the statement.
