Otunba Abass in a statement on Sunday, joined other dignitaries across Lagos State to celebrate the late Monarch for his values and legacy.

Aremo Abass in a shared conversation with a former staff of the late Monarch, Kaka Babatunde, recounted his profound memories of the Olu-Epe, “Though he is no longer with us, his legacy and the values he upheld continue to echo through our hearts and our community.”
The Eko Hot Blog CEO, further praised the late Monarch for his modesty, “He was never among the most flamboyant of monarchs. His personal car collection could be counted in a second—just two vehicles. He owned only two modest houses. Not a single plot of land bore his name, even though he once held the powerful office of Executive Secretary of Lands in Lagos State—a position that could have given him access to vast wealth.”
He further recounted some facts about him, “I still remember how the current Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas, Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu, once confided in me that it was Kabiyesi who allocated him his very first parcel of land in Lekki. Yet, Kabiyesi himself never owned land in Lekki, Lagos State.
“How many monarchs of his stature would reject a car gift, and instead urge the giver to use the funds to construct roads for the benefit of the community?
“What a life of simplicity. What a life of contentment.

“Integrity was not just his principle—it was his very identity. His deepest concern was never self-enrichment, but lasting impact.”

Otunba Abass, thereafter, urged the younger generation to “find inspiration in his example. May they learn that honour is greater than affluence and that legacy is built not by what we acquire but by what we give.
“May his soul rest in peace!”
