The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess (Hon.) Surah Olayemi Animashaun (FHTI), on Monday empowered hundreds of community members, including traders, youths, the elderly, and fishermen,with tools and equipment aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting the local economy.
Ekohotblog reports that the items distributed during the empowerment programme included tricycles, grinding machines, sewing machines, hair dryers, life jackets, coolers with drinks, and fishing nets.

The event, held at the council secretariat, was part of the administration’s broader vision to ensure sustainable development and economic inclusion for all.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Animashaun said the gesture was part of her administration’s promise to create meaningful opportunities for the people.
“This is not just distribution; this is real empowerment,” she said. “We are investing in your livelihoods, in your families, and in the economy of Epe.
Whether you are a trader, a youth, an elderly person, or a fisherman, what we give today will help improve your life in tangible ways.”
She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to expanding empowerment programs and social welfare initiatives if given another term.
APC APEX leader Alhaji Seriki Akanni Bamu commended the chairman for the initiative, expressing confidence in her leadership.
“I trust that they will do more in her second term,” Bamu said. “She is a woman of her word, and today’s empowerment shows her heart for the people.”
Also speaking, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, hailed the initiative as a continuation of grassroots-centered governance.
“I urge everyone here to come out and vote in the upcoming elections. Let us support this government that is already working,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Babatunde Abass, expressed gratitude for the impactful support.
“ I thank Almighty God and I thank the local government chairman that did this for us. We really appreciate all the good things they are doing,” he said.
“Well, all of us will come out for this election, and by the grace of God, we will vote, and we will win.”
Another beneficiary, Mr. Raymond Oladapo Utirugo, called the initiative a life-changing intervention.
“In fact, this is a real empowerment,” Utirugo said. “It’s one thing to give out tokens, and another to give real tools that change lives. This has given my family a chance at a better life and sustainability. I appreciate her resilience and amiable leadership.”
He praised Animashaun’s performance in infrastructure, elderly care, and road rehabilitation.

As the July 12 chairmanship election draws near, the empowerment scheme has further deepened community trust in the APC-led administration, while reinforcing the importance of civic participation.
