The Medical Officer for Health, MOH, Epe Local Government, Dr Nurein Ayeola, has commended the author of a recently published book, “The Power and Grace of Character,” Mr Alexander Chikadiabia D, for his resolve to support nation-building through writing.

In a colourful launching party attended by guests which include Pastor Baileys, Princess Mosunmola Beckley, Engineer Segun Feyisola, the applause came in his (Dr Ayeola) opening remarks during the launch of the book which took place at Igbadun Guest House, T-Junction, Epe.

Describing the journey of putting such a beautiful literary work of art together as daunting in tasks, Dr Ayeola was impressed with the writing and publishing timeline, which was said to have been within the space of three years, a feat achievable in more than the said number of years by other authors.

He further underscored the efficacy of character as a veritable tool capable of changing destiny and also necessary for Nation-building, while also imploring everyone who came in contact with the book to have it with the intention of not just reading but also practising what was preached.

“The issue of character, is more than ever before, in Nigeria, a very important subject matter that we should discuss. If anything is wrong with Nigeria today, it is the issue of character. There’s a lot of things wrong with the fabric of the society as regard character among leaders and followers.

I’m sure the author has gone in-depth on how the character can change destiny. I’m sure he has done in-depth on how we should be encouraged to build character at the family level because the character is everything,” he stated.

In his address at the gathering, the excited author was immensely thankful for the overwhelming support. This, he said, will spur him to do more. He specifically thanked the Chief Launcher, Dr Nurein Ayeola, Pastor Baileys, Engr Akeushola members of Salem City, his wife, siblings, mother-in-law and 10-year-old daughter.

The author revealed to Ekohotblog that the motivation behind writing the 13 chapters and 220 pages book, surfaced while writing another book titled “21 Ways to Conquer Error”. The thought of despondent and repugnant attitude exhibited by people made him revert, while also noting writing the book required several research, sacrifices and interviews.

He disclosed that the journey to completing the book project made him realise that one must accept people the way they are and strive to practice what they preach as humility is a virtue difficult to put into practice.

Speaking further, he revealed that societal issues like broken homes and cultism inspired him to strive to contribute his quota to push for societal change.
The first chapter according to Mr Chikadibia X-rays the home, a paramount foundation in learning all forms of good character which can’t be learned in schools and churches. The exhibition of good character, he said, is more significant than craving for success.

” I’ve seen people that have first-class, second class and yet, they’re not living up to expectations because they depend on knowledge but their character is nothing relevant.

Why must you read this book? I understand that we’re all graduates, we’re learned people but there’s one ingredient that makes your knowledge lose substance and that is character. When you scrutinize this book, your life will never remain the same because there are certain mistakes we make as a people when we strive to become great in life.

We depend so much on our head knowledge but we don’t want to learn from an expert, which gives you a nose edge ahead of your peers,” he averred.

On the relevance of character towards building a better society, he said:

“A nation can not be built outside integrity and character and likewise, no home can be built outside character. Because in those days, if you’re looking for a lady to get married to, you enquire. You want to know how does she do at home and all that. But today, our young people will see a lady on the road, you ask her out, the next thing, they’re on the bed, the next thing they’re married and they start having issues.”

He rounded up his address with the notion that people are no longer interested in character and knowledge. , therefore, restated that character is the only tool that can control money. The process of building a strong character will enhance nation-building, he, therefore, recommended the public, irrespective of age or creed, while also stating that friends, family members or marriages can be saved if the book is read.
