The authority of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of Monsuru Akinloye, has issued a strong public safety warning following the fall of a fuel tanker in front of Lagos State University of Education along the Epe–Ijebu Ode Expressway.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in an urgent announcement, the council described the situation as highly dangerous, citing the flammable nature of the tanker’s contents and the risk it poses to lives and property within the area.
Residents, motorists, and commuters have been strongly cautioned to avoid the affected route entirely while emergency responders work to contain the situation.
The council emphasized the need for strict adherence to safety directives, warning against loitering or gathering near the scene, as such actions could increase the risk of fire outbreak or explosion.
Motorists have also been advised to make use of alternative routes to minimize exposure to danger and reduce congestion around the affected area.
Eredo LCDA further urged members of the public to remain calm, stay alert, and help disseminate the information to others, as efforts continue to secure the scene and prevent any unforeseen incident.
As of the time of this report, emergency teams are actively on ground, working to manage the situation and ensure the safety of all road users.
