Egoh made the statement during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, while reacting to the recently concluded nationwide primary election conducted by the All Progressives Congress.
The former lawmaker commended the APC for conducting what he described as a peaceful, credible, and transparent exercise across the country.
According to him, the primary election demonstrated internal democracy by allowing party members to freely choose their preferred candidates without interference or imposition.
He applauded party members for participating actively in the process, noting that the votes were openly counted and winners emerged through a fair and transparent system.
“I like this primary election initiative because it is the true test of a candidate’s popularity among party members,” Egoh stated.
“It gives members a sense of belonging as stakeholders in the party, where collective decisions are respected and upheld,” he added.
The former federal lawmaker also praised the conduct of the exercise in Lagos State, Delta State, and other parts of the country, describing the process as orderly and encouraging for democratic growth within the party.
Speaking on the presidential primary, Egoh said the overwhelming support received by Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the exercise showed that many Nigerians and party faithful still desired his leadership beyond the current administration.
“The masses still want President Tinubu as their president and they have demonstrated this through their overwhelming support during the just-concluded exercise,” he said.
Egoh expressed confidence that President Tinubu would secure another term in office, citing the level of acceptance and support shown by party members across the country.
He further urged APC members to sustain the unity, mobilisation, and commitment displayed during the primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former lawmaker also appealed to aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to embrace sportsmanship and remain loyal to the party despite losing at the primary level.
“Losing at the primary level doesn’t justify you maligning the party. If you don’t win today, tomorrow might be yours, therefore stay with the party, work for the party and embrace the spirit of sportsmanship,” Egoh stated.
