Eyewitness accounts indicate that the object reportedly dropped suddenly into the area, but narrowly avoided causing casualties as it did not detonate in the midst of residents.

A local source, who confirmed the incident, said the unexpected explosion sent shockwaves across the village, with many residents initially believing armed attackers had invaded the community.
According to the source, the relief was palpable when it became clear that no life was lost. “It happened suddenly at night. People were terrified, but thankfully, it did not fall where people were gathered,” the resident said.
Security operatives were immediately alerted and have since moved into the area to assess the situation and determine the nature and origin of the object. As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to officially confirm whether the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device or another source.

The incident has unsettled residents of Tambuwal Local Government Area, which has enjoyed relative peace in recent months. Community members are now calling for tighter security surveillance, especially in rural settlements, to prevent a recurrence.
Meanwhile, the explosion has sparked fresh conversations amid global security developments, coming barely a day after former United States President Donald Trump reportedly announced a new security initiative during a high-profile launch on Wednesday.
Trump, who has remained vocal on global terrorism, was reported to have reiterated plans to intensify actions against terrorist networks worldwide, including regions in Africa battling insurgency.

Altough there is no official link between Trump’s announcement and the Sokoto incident, some residents have expressed concern over the timing, urging Nigerian authorities to remain proactive in safeguarding communities in the North-West.
Residents have been advised to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding the mysterious explosion.
