Facts You Should Know About Late Legendary Filmmaker, Chico Ejiro

Nigeria’s film industry lost an emblematic filmmaker, Chico Ejiro, during the early hours of Christmas.

EKO HOT BLOG  points out eight things you should know about the popular filmmaker.

  1. – Mr Prolific, Chico Ejiro, was the younger brother of the legendary filmmaker, Zeb Ejiro, who taught him the basics of the profession.
  2. – He studied at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife where he graduated with a degree in agriculture after two years, Subsequently moved to the Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike to complete his course in agriculture.

  3. – He was the owner of a production company called Grand Touch Pictures, and he made over 80 movies over a five-year period. — Each was filmed in just three days. It is often said that he had the Nollywood director’s record with the largest number of films released.

  4. – Born in Isoko, Delta, Nigeria, he became involved in video production because Nigerians would not buy blank video cassette. He accidentally  became a director. He developed an interest in being a director when he worked in NTA for a while.

  1. – His most difficult movies he directed were Full Moon, Festival of Fire and Slave.

  2. – In the course of production of Slave, was shot in the jungle of Abakaliki, he lost one of the actors.

  3. – Most of his friends considered to him as the President of Arsenal football club because he was an ardent supporter .

  4. – He was married to Joy Ejiro and had two children.
