- Family Betrayal: Sisters Abduct Elder Brother, Secure ₦30m Ransom
- Four other members of the kidnapping group on the run
- The two sisters are security operatives
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested two sisters, Juliet Chukwu and Ngozi Nancy Chukwu, for allegedly orchestrating the abduction of their elder brother, Mr. Friday Chukwu.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Juliet an officer with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Ngozi, who serves with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), are accused of coordinating the kidnapping, which occurred last month along the Enugu Port Harcourt Expressway near the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in Ituku-Ozalla, Nkanu West Local Government Area.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that their actions led to the payment of a ₦30 million ransom for Mr. Chukwu’s release. He is originally from Amaeze village in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
Further investigations linked the sisters to the recent kidnapping of Engineer Dennis Igwe, General Manager of China Oriental Mining Company, who was abducted in the same area earlier this week. A ransom of ₦10 million was reportedly paid for his release.
Police operatives traced the suspects to a hotel, where they were allegedly found attempting to divide the ransom money.
Authorities noted that four other members of the kidnapping group are still on the run.
Confirming the arrests, the Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area, Chief Emmanuel Ajah, said he had formally notified both the Enugu State Police Command and the Ebonyi State NSCDC Command about the incident.

“Though the incidents occurred outside my jurisdiction, the safety of our people remains a top priority,” he said.
Local sources indicate that the two sisters may be connected to a broader criminal network operating in the Ishiagu area, with alleged involvement in vandalism and coordination with outside criminal groups.
Attempts to get a response from the Ebonyi State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, had not replied to inquiries at the time this report was filed.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations are still underway and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
