Family, Friends, Others Pay Tribute To Late Rev. Helen Smith At Service Of Songs, Wake

Eko Hot Blog reports that the family, friends, and community members of late Reverend (Mrs.) Helen Omotunde, on Thursday, January 18, 2023, converged on her residence at Oke Awanu Street, Ogba, Lagos State, to honour her life and legacy.

She passed on last December at the age of 69, leaving behind children, grandchildren, siblings, nephews, nieces, and an aged mother.

The deceased’s memory was on Thursday honoured with a solemn service of songs and a wake.

Attendees, including family and friends, took turns to honour the late Reverend (Mrs.) Smith in a ceremony that blended reverence, worship, and shared memories.

The wake commenced with a deeply moving worship session, where attendees, gripped by the weight of their loss, sought solace and spiritual connection.

Afterwards, the choir gracefully transitioned into a ministration that resonated with the collective grief of the gathering.

Amidst the somber atmosphere, family, friends, community members, and classmates, including Otunba TJ Abass, the Aremo of Epe, from Molusi College, the deceased’s alma mater, took centre stage to share heartfelt testimonials about the late Reverend Smith.

She was eulogised as a sacrificial, strong, supportive, social, and loveable woman, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

The preacher who delivered the sermon offered reflections on the transient nature of life. Regardless of one’s societal position or title, he urged the congregation to remember that everyone will eventually return to their Creator.

The sermon resonated as a poignant call for a passionate pursuit of Christ and dedicated service to him.

Following the impactful sermon, the choir led a hymn that reverberated through the surroundings, creating an atmosphere conducive to reflection and introspection.
