The clash resulted in at least two fatalities, with hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons attacking shops in Zango Quarters and Yakasai near Rimi Market, snatching mobile phones, and vandalizing properties.
The heightened fear of reprisal attacks has led many residents, such as Umar Tijjani from Yakasai, to stay indoors after evening prayers.
Even staff members of Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital are not spared from the violence, as a nurse was recently stabbed by thugs.
