Lagos Assembly Swears In First Female Speaker, Meranda After Obasa’s Impeachment
- Mojisola Meranda sworn in as Lagos State House of Assembly’s first female Speaker.
- She took the oath of office after former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s impeachment.
- Meranda represents Apapa 1 constituency and was previously Deputy Speaker in June 2023.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that she took her oath of office after the impeachment of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, on Monday during a plenary session.
Meranda represents the Apapa 1 state constituency in the assembly.
Taking her oath of office, Meranda said, “I affirm that I will be faithful as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; that I will perform my functions honestly to the best of my ability, faithfully, and in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Meranda was declared Deputy Speaker of the 10th Assembly back in June 2023.
