The Catholic Herald, Nigeria’s oldest newspaper, celebrated its 100th anniversary with a special event on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, in Victoria Island, Lagos.
At the event, Mr. Femi Otedola, CON, Chancellor of Augustine University, and Sir Steve Omojafor, KSS, OON, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, were honored with prestigious awards for their service to the community.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Mr. Otedola received the Catholic Herald Centenary Man Award. Speaking at the event, he said, “I am truly honored to be recognized for my contributions to education and society.”
Sir Omojafor was given the Catholic Herald Centenary Lifetime Achievement Award. In his acceptance speech, he said, “This award is a reminder that service to the Church and society is a lifelong duty.”
The event, organized by The Catholic Herald, a publication of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, highlighted the newspaper’s rich history and celebrated individuals who have made a difference in the Church and society.
“This centenary celebration is a landmark in the history of our paper and a chance to honor those who have impacted our community positively,” said the Editor of The Catholic Herald.
