Fernandes Sees Red As Tottenham Beat Man Utd At Old Trafford

Tottenham delivered a stunning performance to dismantle a 10-man Manchester United at Old Trafford, intensifying the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite the absence of the injured Son Heung-min, Spurs dominated from the outset, with a first-half masterclass that should have produced more than just Brennan Johnson’s third-minute goal.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Johnson’s easy tap-in came after a marauding run from Micky van de Ven, but Tottenham missed numerous chances to extend their lead, with Timo Werner notably failing to beat United goalkeeper Andre Onana when one-on-one.

United’s troubles worsened just before halftime when captain Bruno Fernandes was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on James Maddison. However, even before the dismissal, Ten Hag’s team looked disjointed and overwhelmed.

Tottenham finally doubled their advantage two minutes into the second half when Dejan Kulusevski coolly chipped Onana following another incisive run by Johnson.

Dominic Solanke capped off his tireless performance by adding a third goal 12 minutes from time, converting Pape Matar Sarr’s flick-on from a corner. The goal sealed United’s fate and prompted a mass exodus of their supporters from Old Trafford, reflecting their team’s dismal display.
