FG Extends Deadline For Linkage Of NIN To SIM Cards
The federal Government has extended the deadline for registration of National Identification Number (NIN).
Eko Hot Blog reports that everyone without the national identification number now has till February 9, 2021 to get registered.
In the same vein, those who have already registered but are seeking to link their identification number with with their SIM cards registration records now have till January 19, 2021 to do so.
This is coming at a time when the government was criticised for issuing two weeks to Nigerians to update Sim registration.
Recall that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had told telecommunications companies to block all unregistered SIM cards in the country in two weeks to block all unregistered SIM cards.
The federal government had on December 15 given Nigerians two weeks to link their phone numbers to their tlNIN and also directed telecommunication companies to block users who fail to comply with the directive.

But the directive was greeted by criticism and uproar with many saying the government did not think its decision through, adding that it was impossible for the over 100 million persons who were yet to get their NIN to do so in two weeks.
