He said the ministry remains focused on collaborating with sub-national governments, the private sector, development partners and host communities to revitalise the steel sector.
According to Audu, the ministry’s priorities in the New Year include strengthening institutional frameworks, accelerating the revitalisation of critical steel assets, promoting local steel production, attracting both local and foreign investments, and enhancing human capacity development across the sector.
He noted that these efforts align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and are aimed at ensuring the steel industry supports infrastructure development, manufacturing, job creation and national self-reliance.
The minister acknowledged that the ministry faced constraints in 2025, particularly the non-release of funds for the implementation of the 2025 budget.

However, he said reform efforts were sustained through the prudent implementation of key components of the 2024 Appropriation Act.
Audu explained that by prioritising strategic partnerships, investment facilitation and policy-driven interventions over direct budgetary spending, the ministry recorded notable achievements that demonstrated its resilience and commitment.
He identified the successful hosting of the inaugural National Steel Summit 2025 as a major milestone, noting that the event brought together key stakeholders nationwide to chart a new course for the revival of Nigeria’s steel industry.
