- US President Donald Trump is expected to present the World Cup trophy after the final
- The Argentina vs Spain final will take place on Sunday at MetLife Stadium
FIFA will introduce a new tradition at this year’s FIFA World Cup final by awarding winners’ rings to the victorious team after Sunday’s clash between Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the presentation ceremony will be attended by United States President Donald Trump, who is also expected to hand over the World Cup trophy to the champions.

Unlike FIFA’s long-standing tradition of presenting gold medals, the winners’ rings mirror the practice commonly seen in major American sports, particularly the NFL’s Super Bowl.
Thirty specially designed rings will be presented to members of the winning team, while an additional 1,996 replica rings will be produced for supporters wishing to own a commemorative item.

Although the tournament has been staged across North America, President Trump has not attended any of the 102 matches played before the final. His absence included all of the United States’ games before the hosts exited the competition in the round of 16 against Belgium.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino had earlier hinted that Trump would attend the final, a plan later confirmed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
The relationship between Infantino and Trump has, however, generated debate following reports that the US President contacted the FIFA president to seek a review of the red card issued to United States forward Folarin Balogun earlier in the tournament.

Meanwhile, FIFA is monitoring weather conditions ahead of the final after authorities issued an air quality alert for New York and New Jersey due to smoke from wildfires in Canada.
Despite the advisory, organisers have indicated that there are no plans to postpone or disrupt the final.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday with Argentina and Spain battling for the title in a final expected to combine world-class football with a grand American-style spectacle.
