The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reported a fire outbreak at the Itamaga Plank Market in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
According to a statement from Nosa Okunbor, Head of LASEMA’s Public Affairs Unit, the agency received distress calls and promptly dispatched its Lion Squad from the Agbowa Base.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that upon arrival at the market around 4:20 AM on Wednesday, responders found that a shop was fully engulfed in flames. An investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a power surge.

“The swift intervention and coordinated efforts of the LRT and LASG Fire & Rescue Service contained and subdued the fire,” the statement noted.
LASEMA confirmed that the fire destroyed the shop, resulting in partial loss of goods and property, but assured that there were no casualties or injuries.

By the time of this report, the fire had been completely extinguished and the area secured. Emergency responders also educated occupants on the safe use of electrical appliances.
