First Lady, Reps Donate N140m To Jigawa Tanker Explosion Victims
First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has donated N40 million and essential food items to support victims of the devastating tanker explosion in Majiya village, Jigawa State, which occurred on October 16 and has claimed over 170 lives.
In addition, the House of Representatives pledged N100 million to assist those affected by the tragedy.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the donations were presented on behalf of the First Lady by a delegation led by the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, at a ceremony held at the Government House in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The First Lady, expressing her deep concern for the victims, assured Jigawa State of her ongoing support and prayers.
Governor Umar Namadi, while receiving the donations from the First Lady’s representative, expressed gratitude and pledged to use the funds responsibly to support the affected families.
Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, also visited Dutse to convey the Green Chamber’s sympathies and announce the House’s N100 million contribution.
He expressed profound sadness over the tragedy and emphasized that the House stands in solidarity with Jigawa’s residents in addressing the aftermath of the explosion and exploring solutions to prevent similar incidents.
In a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Abbas highlighted the House’s commitment to supporting families of the deceased and the injured and to finding solutions to broader regional issues.
He assured that the donation would help cover medical expenses for those hospitalized and provide additional support to bereaved families.
The delegation included high-ranking House members such as Deputy House Leader Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, Northern Caucus Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa, and other key representatives who extended condolences, shared prayers for the deceased, and committed to standing with Jigawa State in its time of grief.
