FirstBank has reassured its customers that the transition to a new cloud-based procurement and financial platform, set to begin on Saturday, October 26, will not disrupt banking services. While the bank had previously noted potential service disruptions, it clarified that these would affect vendors, not customers.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement to Punch on Thursday, the bank emphasized, “This transition relates solely to the bank’s platform with suppliers and does not impact its banking systems, customer transactions, or channels.”

The migration will be from the current I-Supplier platform, which connects the bank to its suppliers, to a new cloud-based supplier platform designed to improve supplier management.

FirstBank explained that the update is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. The migration will take place from Saturday, October 26, 2024, to Sunday, November 3, 2024, with the new supplier platform going live on Monday, November 4, 2024, at which point normal supplier operations will resume.

“During this period, suppliers will not be able to use the bank’s supplier platform. However, rest assured that FirstBank’s supplier platform system will be open thereafter,” the statement added.

The bank’s clarification follows recent challenges faced by several Nigerian banks during system upgrades, which had raised concerns among customers.

Many initially misunderstood the announcement and feared the migration might impact their banking activities, leading to widespread apprehension on social media.
