EDITOR’S PICK

Many women use artificial nails for fashion reasons, but some may have other motivations. Women’s artificial fingernails are attractive and fashionable, but they have potentially negative effects that every woman should be aware of.

Various materials are used to create various forms of fake nails, based on the preferences of the individual. Acrylic, gels, and silk are used to create the three major varieties. Each one necessitates a different approach to repair.

In this article on EKO HOT BLOG, we would be looking at some side effects of fixing artificial nails.

1. Risk Of Having Bacterial Or Fungal Infections

There is always a possibility of hitting your nails against a hard object or wall. When this occurs frequently, you may dislodge your natural nail from its nail bed. This is because the artificial fingernail is strongly glued to the natural one.

When this occurs, a gap or space may be left afterwards. This triggers the activities of bacteria and fungi and encroaches on the area. Due to this infection, your natural nail may turn green with tiny yellowish spots. In severe cases, the natural nail may disintegrate and lead to complications.

2. You May Experience Allergic Reactions

Allergic reactions are due to your body’s reaction to external substances such as chemicals etc. Your body does not accept certain foods, therefore when you eat them, it may trigger an allergic reaction. The same may occur when you fix artificial fingernails.

Some women are allergic to acrylic acid and gels used to produce some types of artificial nails. Also, the chemicals used to fix or remove artificial nails can trigger allergic reactions which can cause itching, redness, swelling, and discharge of pus from the affected finger or toes.

To avoid this, you need to check whether your body is allergic to the artificial nail you are planning to use. This will help you prevent any future damage to your nails.

3. Artificial Nails Can Easily Weaken Your Natural Nails

A powerful chemical substance called acetone is used to remove artificial nails. You soak your nails inside it for up to 1 minute to soften the glue that stuck your natural and artificial nails together. This chemical can dry which weakens your nails and makes them prone to damage.
