Floods: VP Shettima Visits Maiduguri, Pledges Support, Solutions
Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to addressing the persistent flooding issues in the country.
He announced that a comprehensive roadmap has been developed to tackle the problem effectively.
Shettima made this commitment during his visit to Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital, on Tuesday, where he conducted an on-the-ground assessment of the severe flooding that has displaced local communities.
In a statement from his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima described the flooding as the most catastrophic in Maiduguri in over thirty years.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the flood, which began over the weekend, has intensified. Authorities attribute the worsening conditions to excess water from the Alau Dam and the collapse of its spillways, which have caused a massive surge of water downstream, leading to widespread flooding in nearby communities.
