Gov Sanwo-Olu disclosed this on Thursday 6th January 2022 at the commissioning of the Thani-Oladunjoye Old People Center in Epe.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Aebowale, who represented the Governor at the occasion disclosed that all machinery has been put in place to roll out the program in the new year.
The initiative tagged “The Elderly Bus Pass,” according to her, is domiciled in the Office of Civic Engagement.
She further stated, “In our office this year, we are going to be doing something for the elderly population under the directive of Mr Governor under the elderly bus pass. Under the Elderly Bus Pass, we are going to make sure that all the elderly in Lagos State would have a way to transport themselves from their homes to the various places they want to go beginning from ages 65 and above. We also have other programmes that are being put in place by this administration for the elderly population, for our youths, for our women, for the vulnerable, for the pregnant women.”
“The vision is that our elderly fathers and mothers who are always indoors, they will be able to go, probably on the BRT bus or the vehicle we are going to provide for them to go from one place to another. We are also looking to put, maybe some money into their pockets to the market, travel or visit their children.
“So, we have many programs that your son, the people-centred Governor, the people-oriented Governor, is doing for Lagosians and I can also tell you and assure you that Epe Division won’t be left out,” she assured.
