EKO HOT BLOG reports that former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has emerged victorious in the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial election held on Saturday, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the results declared by INEC, Akpabio polled a total of 115,401 votes, while his closest rival, Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 69,838 votes. With this result, Akpabio has secured a return to the Senate for another term.
Reacting to his victory, Akpabio expressed his gratitude to the people of his constituency for their support, and promised to continue to work for their development and progress. He also commended INEC for conducting a peaceful and transparent election.
The Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial election was one of several held across the country on Saturday, as part of Nigeria’s general elections. Despite some incidents of violence and logistical challenges in some areas, the polls were generally peaceful and well-organized.
