EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident occurred at the boundary between Agaie and Lapai LGAs but fortunately resulted in no casualties, according to local reports.
Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker caught fire after it fell while attempting to overtake another vehicle. Mallam Mahmud Abubakar, a resident of Lapai, highlighted that this marked the second explosion at the same location within a week.
Abubakar explained that excessive speed and loss of control contributed to Tuesday’s explosion, while last week’s incident was caused by a tanker colliding with a stationary truck parked by the roadside. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames during the earlier incident.

The recurring tanker explosions have raised alarms about the safety of highways in Niger State, with residents calling for stricter traffic regulations to prevent further disasters.
