The remains of late Odyong Nyenkpa, Darigo 1 of Barde, His Highness; Sako Gajere has been laid to rest at his palace in Barde Chiefdom, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Speaking during the funeral service, the Deputy Governor of kaduna State, Dr. Hadizah Sabuwa Balarabe described the late Darigo 1 of Barde as an epitome of peace who lived his life for the good of his people and the state in general.
Represented by the Senior Special Adviser on Political Matters Mr. Wilson Iliya Yange, the Deputy Governor advised the people of Nyenkpa chiefdom to emulate the late Chief by embracing peace and harmony with one another irrespective of tribe or religion.
She consoled the immediate family and people of the chiefdom, Jema’a Local Government and the State Council of Traditional Rulers and prayed for a happy repose of the late Chief.
Also speaking, the chairman Jema’a Local Government area, Mr. Peter Danjuma Averik described the late Odyong Nyenkpa Darigo 1 of Barde as a man with enviable virtues and a sincere traditional ruler who loved his people and sacrificed a lot for the good of the chiefdom and Jema’a Local Government at large.
On his part, the Kpop Gwong, His Highness Paul Zakka Wyom who spoke on behalf of the traditional Rulers pleaded with the state and local government to immortalise the late Darigo 1 of Barde in view of his outstanding records and contributions to peace and grassroot development.
In his sermon, the presiding pastor of Flourish Baptist Church, Kwoi in Jaba Local Government, Reverend Dr. Simon Haruna advised Christians to prepare for death by living a holy and blameless life as exemplified by Jesus Christ, noting that death is at war with every one and can strike at any time.
The sermon with the theme “ The defeat of death” Reverend. Dr. Haruna said death is an enemy that had no respect for personality or social status.
He explained that to overcome death, Christians must repent from their sins, embrace the exemplary lifestyle of Jesus Christ who according to him triumphed over death through resurrection.
Born in 1919, the late Odyong Nyenkpa Darigo 1 of Barde who died after a protracted illness on March 30, 2021, attended Adult Education classes in the late 1950s and was installed a Staff Chief in 2000.
Buried on the 17th April, 2021. His Highness Sako Gajere is survived by seven (7) children, 47 grandchildren and five (5) great-grandchildren.
