General Hospital, Lagos Island, accepted a donation of medical equipment, edibles, fabrics, and other basic needs for the hospital ward from members of the Gales Club on Thursday, December 5, 2024, as part of their annual outreach to health facilities in Lagos.

The coordinated Gales Club, consisting of retired and registered nurses, was received and well appreciated by medical staff and patients who were beneficiaries of the donation.

The club’s vice president, Mrs. Ibidola Adeniyi, urged the medical staff to ensure the proper use of the donated medical equipment and items to encourage other alumni sets who graduated from their alma mater to also adopt other wards.

Conversely, one of the medical staff at the General Hospital, Lagos Island, Apex Nurse Oshodi Bakare Olabisi, responded, affirming the proper use of previously donated items and also acknowledged the club’s humanitarian gestures at the hospital over the years.

She also added, “I want to assure you and also promise you that the equipment will be properly utilized and maintained. As you can see, the equipment you donated last year was properly utilized.”

The patients in the adopted Ward A1, who were all beneficiaries of the club’s donation, expressed their gratitude as they all sang together, including the medical staff and the club members.

Also, one of the patients, Mrs. Iyabo Ogunde, said in an interview with Ekohotblog, “We’re so happy. It won’t be the last by the grace of God, and may God bless the members of the club.”

It was gathered by Ekohotblog that, since the Gales Club adopted a ward in the hospital, they have mandatorily donated medical equipment and utilities based on the needs of the adopted ward for years now.
