A fatal accident involving a BMT bus and a truck at Sagamu Express junction resulted in one death and six injuries, with rescue operations ongoing.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that one person has been reported dead, and six others have sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident at the Sagamu Express junction in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, in a brief statement to journalists, disclosed that the accident occurred at about 9:48 am on Sunday.
Akinbiyi stated that the accident involved a Bus Mass Transit vehicle and a truck, adding that rescue operations are ongoing.
He said, “There is a fatal road traffic accident involving a BMT bus and a truck inbound at Sagamu Express Junction. One person is presumed dead, and six others have sustained serious injuries. Rescue operations are ongoing.”
Meanwhile a two-storey building under construction in Gujungu town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, collapsed on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of three individuals.
The Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, Dutse, Lawan Adam, confirmed the incident in a press statement.
Upon receiving the call, a team of policemen was immediately mobilized to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered that a two-storey building under construction had collapsed, claiming three lives on the spot.
The victims have been identified as Nafi’u Mohd, 28, of Rijiyar Zaki, Ungogo LGA of Kano State; Abdurrahman Ibrahim, 60, of Danmadai village, Gagarawa Local Government Area; and Usman Lawan, 62, of the same address.
Additionally, four other individuals who were trapped in the collapse suffered varying degrees of injuries.
