According to community sources and preliminary findings, the assailants attempted to abduct Colonel Ude, but he offered fierce resistance, prompting the attackers to shoot him multiple times before fleeing.
Following the attack, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Kurudu visited the scene on Tuesday morning to evacuate the officer’s body to the morgue.
Addressing early reports that placed the tragedy within the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command issued a statement clarifying that the attack occurred in Badna, a Nasarawa State border community adjoining Abuja.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, noted that Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi directed a thorough investigation immediately after false reports circulated online, cautioning that misattributing the location creates unnecessary panic among Abuja residents.
To safeguard the capital from potential threats, the FCT Command has proactively deployed operational and tactical intelligence assets along all border communities shared with Nasarawa State.
Meanwhile, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, confirmed that the Nigerian Army is preparing an official statement regarding the officer’s death, as security agencies launch joint efforts to track down the perpetrators.
